who is that? |
A Dresser often works with the Wardrobe person and helps the actors get in and out of their costumes backstage. It is the dressers responsibility to ensure that the costume is on correctly and perfectly, ready to be worn on stage. The dresser also helps the actors who have a Quick Change. That is where an actor may be in two consecutive scenes requiring different costumes and may only have 30 seconds to change. Often, the actors will not go down to their dressing room for a quick change and instead will change in the wings. |
The Prompt is the person who helps the actors remember their lines. Usually the prompt is very familiar with the script and will sit in the wings, without being seen by the audience, and follow the dialogue on stage. If an actor forgets their line, the prompt will clearly state the line or the start of the line in order to help out the actor. The Front of House people look after everything else that is not concerned with the stage or the actors. Their duties include tickets, programs, seating ushering and sometimes catering.
