The Green Room is a place where actors can go and relax before they are required on stage. All theatres have a Green Room although not all are actually "Green". The reason why this place is called the Green Room originates from back from the mid to late 19th century where it was believed that Green was a relaxing colour. Thus, most of the theatres painted their rooms green, to calm the nervous performer who was about to venture on to the stage.
